We Were Disinfecting Before It Was Cool

Our sanitation has always been top priority, with extra measures in place at times like this. The reality is that Floating is a very safe, sanitary environment and actually helps boost the immune system! As an industry we have certain standards to follow when cleaning float tanks, and we have called in experts to ensure that our disinfectant procedures and handling are sufficient when dealing with COVID-19.

We want to show you first hand what our deep clean protocol is and reiterate how our filtration/sanitation system works.

Let's start with the tank environment and filtration system:

There is 1500 pounds of Epsom salt dissolved in each of our tanks. The float solution’s high salinity level alone creates an environment in which biological entities cannot proliferate. Think of the Dead Sea. It's called the Dead Sea for a reason. Nothing can live in it. The solution in our tanks is 3.5-4 times "saltier" than the Dead Sea.

After each session, the entire body of water is pumped and filtered through a 4 part filtration and sterilization system three times. Our filtration system is able to filter particles from the water to 1 micron in size and is FDA compliant for drinking water (Class 1 Filtration). A strand of hair is about 50 microns, for a point of reference. After that we blast it with UV light, dose it with 35% hydrogen peroxide and treat it with ozone. Our filters are replaced bi-weekly and the ozone tubes are inspected bi-weekly as well as replaced bi-annually and as needed.

Not to get too scientific on you but this is how UV and Ozone work together: When germicidal UV light (UV-C) and ozone react the result is the production of hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is known as the Advanced Oxidation Process, or AOP. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are the most powerful oxidation agents available, quickly destroying bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants that occur in water. Hydroxyl radicals also destroy chlorine and bromine resistant microorganisms, such as Cryptosporidium Parvum, Giardia and E.Coli.

When we clean our rooms between clients, we also disinfect the surfaces that people are likely to have touched using hospital grade hydrogen peroxide. These surfaces include shower handles, soap/shampoo dispensers, buttons inside the tank, the tank handle, door knobs, fresh water spray bottle in the tank, the "halo" neck support, ear wash solution, and anywhere else in/on the cabin where clients are likely to have touched.

That being said, if you are not feeling well or have traveled out of country and are unsure, please give us a call to reschedule. Our cancellation policy will be waived as we do not want to risk health and wellness of our team or other clients. ake sure all of the above steps are working as they should.

Our rooms are also "Deep Cleaned" at least once a week, every week:

If you have ever noticed that we don't book appointments until 4pm on Wednesdays, this is why! Megan and I have done this together since the inception of Mindful Elevation and while we do have it down to a calculated science, it is not quite as fast as the video portrays. I put together a time lapse video of how we clean each room. Enjoy!

As you can see, we go to great lengths to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.

It is our number one priority now and always!
